The Victorian Association of TAFE Libraries (VATL) is a network of TAFE Institute Libraries which provides expert advice, products and services to its members and clients to improve the overall quality of vocational and higher education and training.
It has as its members the library staff of each TAFE Institute library, and of each Post Secondary Institution with a TAFE responsibility.
It was previously known as the Victorian Association of TAFE Institute Librarians (VATIL) and prior to that, its name was the Victorian Association of TAFE College Librarians (VATCL). VATCL was established in 1972 and celebrated its 200th meeting in 1998.

Services
VATL members offer a range of information services to their parent Institutes in the TAFE sector, aimed at increasing the access of VET learners to quality learning resources. Please contact individual TAFE libraries for information about the services they provide.
Services available to VATL members include:
Interlibrary loans and document delivery services
VATL members can opt to participate in a free interlibrary loan and document delivery program with other VATL members. Find out more about the VATL ILL program, including participating libraries.
Staff and students at Victorian TAFE libraries may also be able to borrow in person from other TAFE and University libraries:
- CAVAL allows eligible staff and students to borrow in person from participating Victorian TAFE and University Libraries.
- The TAFE Libraries National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme [Excel document] allows students and staff of participating TAFE libraries to borrow in person from participating TAFE libraries that are in a different state to their home Institute. The scheme is managed by the VET Libraries Australia Committee.
Consortia deals
The VATL committee may negotiate with suppliers to obtain group subscription rates to resources that are of interest to multiple members. Interested suppliers should contact the VATL Secretary for more information.
